At first glance Newtown may seem like a suburb in disrepair but look a little closer and you’ll start to truly appreciate the finer details, like the culturally challenging street art painted all across this inner-city town in all it’s glory. When I saw gorgeous shades of rust-colours dominating this season’s autumn fashion palette, I couldn’t resist styling the beautiful Katie for my Newtown travel post in this knot detail maxi skirt, in honour of the beauty of Newtown’s urban decay.
I dressed down the skirt with a simple roll sleeve cotton crop top and plain white sneakers, a nod to the laid back anything-goes attitude in this community, and completed the look with a pair of tortoise-shell circular shades. Whilst I could never personally pull off an outfit like this I absolutely love this look and, if you’ve got the figure, why not flaunt it ladies? This outfit certainly turned a few heads as we wondered down King Street, but there is no judgment here. Wear what you love, and wear it proud. This is Newtown.
