On Duty

Home Sweet Home.

After my rather epic USA trip, I spent much of the last summer laying low in Sydney, working my day job on the festival and events scene and enjoying the Sydney lifestyle that had made me fall in love with Australia – almost nine years ago now! And what a great summer it had been. My Mum had finally visited for the first time since I moved to the other side of the world, and we’d enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime VIP New Years Eve experience on Sydney Harbour together. It was such a special night and I will remember it fondly for the rest of my life. One of my oldest friends was finishing up a theatre tour in China and had booked a week to spend with me in Sydney, and I was getting excited to see my Father, Step-Mother and Brother for a big family reunion and to celebrate my birthday – the big 3-0! A summer at home couldn’t have been any more special.

On a stunning hot day at home, my friend Keshia and I spent half a day at Little Bay beach and half a day poolside in my apartment complex, soaking up the rays and playing around with my camera. Having planned to do a beachside post for a while now, I was already well prepared with some fun outfits for Keshia to wear during the shoots.

Boohoo.com has achieved global domination in recent years, with a gun PR team who have created trendsetting television advertising and clever social media campaigns. The brand brings cheap and affordable on-trend fashion to the masses, shipping worldwide with an exceptionally large catalogue of products. Loving the colourful pom poms sewn onto an otherwise white beach dress, I chose to style Keshia in the Melissa Pom Pom Low Back Swing Dress for the beach which cost just $26 (AUD)!

For our poolside shoot at home, I went for the Oia Lifeguard Off Duty Slogan Scoop Swimsuit, once of my favourite pieces from Boohoo.com‘s swimwear collection. In a beautiful bold shade of red that you would expect from a baywatch-esque swimsuit, the addition of the Lifeguard Off Duty slogan was just the bit of fun I was looking for to complete the look. A little more expensive, the swimsuit was $40 (AUD).
