It has been an instagram takeover. Everyone who is anyone in the Australian fashion-world descended upon trendy event space, Carriageworks, in Sydney this week for the inaugural Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2015. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr are crammed to the brim with images of all the highlights on the Catwalk, as well as the street-style off the Catwalk (perhaps even more so!), with hoards of fashionista selfies taken in front of the industrial Carriageworks facade; hashtag “outfit of the day” #OOTD #MBFWA #ALWAYSTRENDING
Style icon rivalry aside, there were many beautiful and lust-worthy collections showcased on the Catwalk this year from a wide range of Australian and Asia Pacific designer labels. Many collections included a dreamy colour palette of autumnal golds, greys, browns and copper tones. Jaw-dropping floor-length gowns and gladiator-style knee high shoes were some of the other noticeable styles gracing the presence of the Catwalks throughout the week.
Perth designer Betty Tran presented a romantic collection of flowing red and off-white gowns, heavy on the detail and combined with petticoat-like netting and extravagant capes, while Steven Khalil’s luxe collection consisted of blacks, golds, off-whites and a very autumnal palette of floor length couture. Australian power-duo Bec and Bridge also stood out for all the right reasons, showcasing blends of grey, copper and black street-wear to suit the on-trend fashion-forward Australian.
See the favorites I am still salivating over below. Enjoy!
