This week I have been blogging about my Egyptian adventures, during my vacation there back in 2007. Back then, my travel style was more like shorts and short skirts, singlets and men’s shirts… aka dire. If I could go back and do it all over again, I would send a nod to the dreamy style of the Ancient Egyptians and the bedouins of yesteryear with a suitcase full of flowing linens, golden silks, and brown leathers. Just in case I ever get to visit those Ancient lands again, here is my lust list for what I would packing!
THE DAY LOOK
Blending into the landscape like a desert-storm soldier with a more romantic look-book, I’d keep all my looks to three simple colours: White, Gold and Brown. Those are the colours that are seen on the horizon in every direction here, and are the colours I most associate with Ancient Egypt. A flowing Linen Maxi Skirt by Michael Kors, teamed with the Gold Michala Silk Shirt by Malene Birger is a dreamy combination of Safari meets Egyptian Luxury, and would be an ideal outfit for getting lost between the ruins in Karnak in Luxor. A pair of K Jacques St Tropez Zenobie Leather Sandals completes the outfit, accessorised with a Sunny Tulle-trimmed Toyo Sunhat by Euganie Kim to shield your face from the harsh desert sun. Lug around your DSLR camera, travel wallet and sun screen in style with the Alexa Oversized Brown Bag by Mulberry, the perfect cross body travel bag companion for a culture-vulture wondering around the museums and sights of Cairo. Finally, have the Caribe Metallic Swimsuit by Melissa Odabash on underneath so that you can whip it all off as soon as your back in the resort and jump straight in the pool to cool off!
THE EVENING LOOK
Continuing the theme with luxurious neutrals and metallics, head out for dinner, cocktails and shisha’s dressed like an Egyptian goddess in the Kelly Embroidered Silk-Chiffon Maxi Dress by Alice and Olivia, paired with some Sergio Rossi Metallic Leather Sandals. Focus on arm candy for your jewels, opting for large gold wrist bands or arm cuffs like this stunning Gold-dipped Freshwater Pearl Arm Cuff by Rosantica Maria. Simple, stunning, and seriously sexy!
